Blenders are fantastic gadgets. Lots of people would not be without theirs. Once you find one you like it becomes invaluable. If you click here there are a lot of different kinds available, so it’s easy to find one suitable for you and your family.
As soon as you get your new blender back home you can make smoothies or a quick soup. Most families use their blenders this way. However, there are lots of other ways to use this handy kitchen gadget. Check out some of my personal favourites below…
If you are looking for a tasty and healthy snack, hummus is a great option. It’s super easy to make in a blender too. You need a can of chickpeas, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice and 2 tablespoons of sesame seeds. Shove it all in the blender along with 2 cloves of garlic and a pinch of salt. Hit the blend button and BOOM! In less than a minute, you have some delicious hummus.
Chickpeas are also used to make falafel. Just add some herbs and spices to flavor them. Use the blender to make the mixture and then roll it into balls. Fry them off in a little oil. Falafel are best served in pita bread with some salad and a dollop of natural yogurt as a dressing.
Nut butter is really easy to make. You need some nuts (of your choice) and a little oil. Yes, really! That’s all you need. If you like chocolate you can add some of that too. Guess what you do? Yes, you shove it all in the blender and wait for it to blend!
No-churn ice creams and yogurt freezes
You all know how ice cream is my new thing but did you know that you can make it in a blender? Whipped bananas make fantastic ice cream. They actually have a pretty similar texture to regular ice cream too! Peel some bananas and put them in the freezer until they are completely frozen. Chuck them in the blender along with a splash of coconut milk. Hit the blend button. After Wait for a minute or two until it is a smooth mix. Scrape the mixture out of the blender jug and put it into a freezer-proof container. Put it into the freezer for about an hour. Then serve. Simple!
To make a frozen yogurt, freeze your favorite flavour and use the blender to break it up. It should be the consistency of a smoothie. You can eat it straight away or if you want a harder fro-yo, put it back into the freezer for a little bit longer.
I had to mention freakshakes. The kids love them and the grown ups love them more! They’re super easy, massively indulgent milkshakes with a whole host of treat based toppings. Check out my recipe for Peanut Butter Oreo Freakshakes so you can make your own with your blender.
