If you love Nando’s as much as I do, then you will be well aware of the new menu items that launched last month. I was lucky enough to join some other local bloggers for a taste of the new dishes which were introduced to the Nando’s menu on the 17th of May 2016. If you haven’t been to Nando’s in a while then you need to go and try out these amazing new additions. I was very impressed with the new items and we will be going back to eat them again soon!
Nando’s is always busy but the new Fino Platter is well worth joining the queue for! You can pick and chose from their usual selection of PERi PERi sauces which come in varying degrees of hotness, or you can have the brand new pomegranate dressing. It’s great on your chicken AND on your ice cream. It’s also good when you drizzle it on your finger, you know, ‘coz you have to try it before it goes on your food! (I’m such a classy bird!)
The new Fino Platter is the new star of the menu here. It’s the legendary Nando’s spatchcock PERi PERi chicken, served on a platter big enough for 2 people to share (and be quite stuffed after!) which comes with a fabulous selection of colourful sides which makes the dish look amazing. Alongside your chicken, you get some sweet potato wedges, Fino coleslaw (which is extremely healthy and tastes so good) a small amount of the new supergrains, some chargrilled veggies and mini corn on the cobs which have been smothered in the new PERi butter. It’s a lip-smacking combination and brilliant for date night, or just because you can! I drizzled my chicken with the pomegranate dressing and had some hot PERi on the side.
The amazing new supergrains dish which comes with the Fino platter can also be enjoyed as a full sized salad or as side salad with your meal. It’s a delicious mix of some amazing grains (wheat berry, freekah, red quinoa and black barley) tossed about with a variety of different beans, shredded kale & spring onion. Then it’s all seasoned and drizzled with a light lemon and oregano dressing. It’s super. I loved the combination of the grains and beans. They worked really well together and the dressing was so good. I really enjoyed the supergrains. They were my favourite addition to the menu.
The new vinho spritzer cocktails are great to look at, and they taste even better. Available in a choice of white, rose and red, these spritzers made with wine and lemonade are served in pitchers with a selection of fruits. We tried all three flavours but the rose was certainly my personal favourite. I’m not really a wine drinker, but the vinho cocktails really were tasty. At just under £10 for a pitcher, this is a perfect drink to share with friends!
When we got to dessert, it was two brand new brownies that had been added to the menu. You know how much I LOVE BROWNIES so these were perfect for me. The brownies are available in a choice of salted caramel or the legendary Nando’s PERi PERi sauce. Our brownies were served with a ridiculously creamy, vanilla gelado which was amazing teamed up with the PERi brownie. I loved both brownies but if you’re not a fan of hot, the PERi brownie might not be for you! The salted caramel brownie was awesome too. Both were rich and chocolatey with the perfect brownie texture, not too crunchy, not too fudgey.
All of the new additions to the menu at Nando’s were delicious and left me feeling very full, but needing some more!
We will be visiting there again very soon to eat more of the same. Oink!
