If you’re a regular reader, I must apologise for not being about at all for a few months now – Life got in the way. But I’m back now with this life update because everything has changed, plus I have a few thank yous to make!
Back in November we had a mixture of both good and bad news. The good news was that I was nominated AND shortlisted for the Best Food Blog 2015 at the North East Blogger Awards! I would like to thank every single one of you who nominated me for the award. I feel honoured that you all enjoy the recipes I create here. It gives me loads of warm fuzzies to know that people think my recipes are worth creating. I got the email to say I was a finalist and I was invited to the awards ceremony up in Newcastle. I made arrangements with Misteright to travel to Newcastle to attend the ceremony. The awards evening was a great excuse to get dressed up. I wore an amazing cupcake print dress & some cool tights from Pamela Mann (with my converse) and a cupcake bag. I was up against some great food blogs from the whole of the North East. Unfortunately, I didn’t win but we got to enjoy a good night out and an evening without The Boy. We stayed at the Travelodge Newcastle Central. It was pretty basic but the bed was comfy and breakfast was an all you can eat style hot and cold buffet. We filled our boots before heading home the next day.
Then it was back to reality. The landlord of the house where we had lived for the last 13 years had decided to sell the house. It was in drastic need of a new kitchen and bathroom but we did intend on buying it. We had a survey done and it brought up a whole host of problems that suddenly made a mortgage no longer viable. So, we spent December packing up our family home and frantically searching for somewhere else to live. Then it was Christmas, time was really flying. We finally moved into our amazing new house in January. We moved from the city we have called home for such a long time out into the countryside. Our new home is a converted old church in a small hamlet near the East Yorkshire coast. It’s beautiful out here and I’m in awe, still! It still has a fair way to go before we get it looking how we want it and a load of work needs doing on the garden but by the summertime, we should have some chickens running about and some veggies growing nicely in the veg patch.
I finally have a brand new kitchen that I always dreamed of. It’s perfect and it’s so big you need a map to find your way around it! It’s going to be the new home for everything that happens here so you can expect a lot more video recipes and a load of new ideas over the next few months. It’s good to be back!
Disclaimer – I was given a one night stay at the Newcastle Central Travelodge and a pair of tights from Pamela Mann in exchange for a mention in this post.
