This is a chance for you to TryMyMenu – I mean who said a dinner party menu needs to be complicated? No one wants to spend the day like a mad crazy person being all sweaty in the kitchen so my All American themed menu is perfect for spending less time in the kitchen and more time having fun. No one wants to spend an age creating a menu either. That’s where StressFreePrint came in. They designed, printed and delivered my menus in good time for the party and everyone was very impressed. The finished menus looked fabulous and took pride of place on the table.I’m all for nice, swanky sit down dinners but this party was teenager friendly and since The Boy had his friends over I had to make sure everyone was going to get a taste of food they loved. This made it quite easy to plan out a menu. I just took some of our favourite foods and made them a little bit more extravagant than usual, with much larger portions too! We had a wonderful evening and everyone knew exactly what they were getting thanks to the amazing menus. For starters we ate Southern fried chicken strips with BBQ sauce. They were made using my favourite Gordon Ramsay recipe (from the book Gordon Ramsay’s Ultimate Home Cooking) which never fails and produces amazing crispy fried chicken every time. His recipe calls for chicken drumsticks and thighs but it works just as well with sliced chicken breasts and it’s a lot less messy! The main course was a platter of brie & bacon sliders in homemade burger buns served with a huge bowl of two tone skinny fries (a mixture of Maris Piper and sweet potato chips) along with onion rings and coleslaw. For dessert, we stuffed our faces with an amazing London Cheesecake which is similar to a New York Cheesecake but uses sour cream in a thin layer on the top. We made it using this recipe from Nigella Lawson and we topped it with delicious fresh blackberries from our allotment. Sadly, I wasn’t fast enough with my camera and the whole thing was gone before I even got a photo. For drinks, we consumed more than just a few bottles of Budweiser and instead of finishing the meal with a cheeseboard – we had mega milkshakes which are also known as Oreo Freak-Shakes. If you’re a follower on social media, you will have seen these on more than one occasion! We do tend to have them rather often! We didn’t just have peanut butter ones, I mixed it up a bit and swapped the peanut butter and PB Oreos for regular ones and nutella. It works just as well and you can shove what ever chocolatey goodness on the top that you fancy. The food went down a storm with The Boy and his hungry friends and our friends too. Every plate was cleared, every last onion ring was monstered and they all left feeling very full and rather contented. This was the easiest dinner party I’d ever thrown. Who needs complicated food when you can have a meal like this with your family and friends?
