I’m really getting into cake toppers. They are a wonderful way to decorate your bakes without any hassle at all so when I was invited to review the fabulous laser cut cake toppers from FunkyLaser.com I was rather pleased! The selection on their website is pretty cool and they offer a personalised service too. I’d seen funkylaser before as I am a huge fan of their personalised necklaces but I didn’t know they made cake decorations too. They sell cupcake and cake toppers for weddings & baby showers and they also make numbers and letters which are fabulous for birthdays or any other celebration. The cupcake toppers start from £3.49 and the cake toppers start at £12.99 and are made from laser cut acrylic which is totally food safe.
I was sent the Always and Forever cake topper in lilac to review. The cake topper costs £14.99 and is available in a wide range of other colours. The topper was really well made, it did look a bit flimsy inside the packaging. Once I unwrapped it and got it off the backing paper, it was really good quality, thick acrylic which was not flimsy at all. The cake topper was quite large (15cm wide) with a triangle on the bottom which just slipped into the middle of a cake. The acrylic was 3mm thick which is perfect. Any thicker and it would have been a bit much I think. The cake topper held itself up well, considering it was so thick. It wasn’t as heavy as I expected but acrylic can be deceiving. The cake topper managed to stay at a good angle without falling for a good few hours before the topper was removed and the cake was eaten. Once the topper had been removed from the cake, it left a small slit which was no big deal as I had lined it up in the exact centre so it was a great cutting guide. I’m really pleased with the cake topper and I just need our Anniversary to hurry up so I can use it again! In the mean time, I’m already thinking about placing another order for more cake toppers. I think I am getting a little bit obsessed!
Disclaimer – I received a complimentary cake topper from FunkyLaser.com for the purpose of this review.
