Rapid ravioli is a totally cheating dinner. No, it’s not a quick and easy way to make your own ravioli. There is no simple way to do that. This is a rapid way to serve ready made ravioli and turn it into a proper dinner. When people say ravioli in this house, teenage ears prick up and a can of ravioli in tomato sauce usually appears. I know I’m always on about how you shouldn’t feed crappy food to the little people but it’s his one food vice. He really loves the stuff and as gross as it may be, ever since he was 5 I have been trying to find ways to replace it with a better ravioli. That will definitely not have horse meat or some other identifiable in it. YUCK!
There is a new chilled ravioli brand around called Giovanni Rana and it’s really tasty and a bit too nice to drench in some watery tomato sauce so I decided to cook it and serve it up quite plain with loads of vegetables & a bit of pancetta. The Boy was suitably impressed. He munched his way through the lot and asked for a bit more too. I’m not sure it’s going to stop him from eating the dreaded stuff from a can but at least it’s a bit of an improvement. I suppose I can’t have everything, he’s a really good eater (always has been) and to allow a can of tinned ravioli every now and again isn’t really such a kitchen crime.
