I was asked by Morrisons to see if I could create a family feast to feed 4 for £10 or less when I recently tested out their home delivery service. I like to feed my family nice home cooked food when ever I can and with the weather being rather lovely lately I have been avoiding spending prolonged periods of time in the kitchen. I love my kitchen, don’t get me wrong, but when the oven is on, it is hotter than I like it, even with the windows open. I was thinking about making some lush Summer food that doesn’t need constant watching. No one wants to do that in this heat. I didn’t have much difficulty in completing the feed 4 for £10 challenge as the prices at Morrisons are very reasonable. The quality is great too, and it was easy for me to get everything I needed when I used their new delivery service.
With the new cheaper prices at Morrisons, it wasn’t going to be very difficult to come up with something amazing for a family feast that we all like. I decided on a very simple but delicious quiche served with lightly roasted potatoes and a sweetcorn & tomato salad. No meal in Summer is complete without home made bread buns to accompany the main course and we finished the challenge meal with a fantastic cherry loaf cake with vanilla frosting for dessert. The meal fed four very hungry tummies but at a stretch you could get it to feed six with smaller slices of quiche and a larger salad. The total cost of both dishes was less than my allocated £10 which left me just enough money for a large dairy milk and a sneaky bottle of Dr Pepper to enjoy in the sunshine whilst everything was cooking in the oven.
