I’ve been a bit silly and ended up with a glut of cake so I decided to make some cake bites to use up the cake before it went stale. Cake bites are like cake pops, but without the stick. You don’t need to cook anything when you make cake pops or bites this way and it’s so simple that you could leave older kids to do it alone. You can make them from cake you have made yourself or even shop bought cake that hasn’t been eaten. It doesn’t matter what flavour the cake is either, this particular recipe uses my home made vanilla sponge cake with milk chocolate chunks inside.
Cake bites are so simple and the kids love helping get messy and mixing the cake crumbs with the icing. It’s best to use your hands and I’m yet to meet a small person who doesn’t like to squish things up with permission! You can also add all kinds of things to your cake bites. It doesn’t have to be chocolate chunks, you can use crushed up Crunchie bars, mini kisses by Hershey’s, M&M, Smarties or any other sweets & chocolate that you prefer. Because this recipe is no bake, you don’t have to wait very long before you can munch on these delicious little morsels. Just long enough for them to set and the chocolate coating to be totally dried – although they do taste amazing with warm melted chocolate on them. Just use a fork, or a fondue set!
Disclaimer – I received some complimentary products from the Cake Angels range to be creative in the kitchen, this is one of the things I came up with
